{"id":34,"date":"2008-01-09T17:13:44","date_gmt":"2008-01-09T17:13:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.danplanet.com\/wordpress\/?p=34"},"modified":"2011-11-29T16:27:17","modified_gmt":"2011-11-29T16:27:17","slug":"libvirt-cim-in-fedora","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.danplanet.com\/blog\/2008\/01\/09\/libvirt-cim-in-fedora\/","title":{"rendered":"libvirt-cim in Fedora"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today the first build of <a href=\"http:\/\/libvirt.org\/CIM\">libvirt-cim<\/a> hit the Fedora <a href=\"http:\/\/download.fedora.redhat.com\/pub\/fedora\/linux\/development\/x86_64\/os\/Packages\/\">development tree<\/a>.\u00a0 This means that by just running &#8220;<span class=\"dan_code\">yum install libvirt-cim<\/span>&#8220;, you can have a working CIM provider for Xen on your Fedora 8 machine (assuming you have the development repository enabled).\u00a0 After installing the provider, you can do something like the following to check that it&#8217;s working:<\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"font-family: Courier New,Courier,mono;\"><p>[root@f8test ~]# wbemcli ein http:\/\/root:password@localhost\/root\/virt:CIM_System<br \/>\nlocalhost:5988\/root\/virt:Xen_HostSystem.CreationClassName=&#8221;Xen_HostSystem&#8221;,Name=&#8221;f8test.danplanet.com&#8221;<br \/>\nlocalhost:5988\/root\/virt:Xen_ComputerSystem.CreationClassName=&#8221;Xen_ComputerSystem&#8221;,Name=&#8221;Domain-0&#8243;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>You&#8217;ll get a Xen_ComputerSystem object for each of the domains you have on the system, and a Xen_HostSystem object for the host itself.<\/p>\n<p>The build contains a snapshot of the development tree from a few days ago, and looks very close to what version 0.1 will be.\u00a0 There is a pretty substantial amount of support for Xen paravirt guests, although there are still a few rough spots.\u00a0 After we snap version 0.1, we will focus on improving support for Xen fullvirt and KVM guests, which should be very similar.\u00a0 Right now, you can do things like enumerate KVM guests and devices, but you can&#8217;t do much more than that.<\/p>\n<p>If you try it out (successfully or not), be sure to drop by the libvirt-cim <a href=\"https:\/\/www.redhat.com\/mailman\/listinfo\/libvirt-cim\/\">mailing list<\/a> and let us know!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today the first build of libvirt-cim hit the Fedora development tree.\u00a0 This means that by just running &#8220;yum install libvirt-cim&#8220;, you can have a working CIM provider for Xen on your Fedora 8 machine (assuming you have the development repository &hellip;
