This is a bit of old news, but since it’s now available publicly, I suppose it’s a good time to post about my recent article in the January 2010 issue of Linux Journal.\u00a0 I was approached late last year to write an article for a “Ham Radio” edition of the magazine.\u00a0 There was no particular topic, so I suggested an “Amateur Radio Survival Guide for Linux Users<\/a>” to explore a few common things that Windows users might take for granted.\u00a0 I covered a little bit about basic contest logging, TCP\/IP over packet radio, D-STAR, APRS, amateur satellite tracking, and SDR.\u00a0 The goal was to provide some starting points for a Linux user that might be a new ham, but it would also interest existing hams that are looking to move to Linux for some of their operating activities.<\/p>\n
