{"id":13,"date":"2009-03-23T21:33:11","date_gmt":"2009-03-23T21:33:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.danplanet.com\/wordpress\/?p=13"},"modified":"2011-11-29T16:18:10","modified_gmt":"2011-11-29T16:18:10","slug":"microhams-2009","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.danplanet.com\/blog\/2009\/03\/23\/microhams-2009\/","title":{"rendered":"Microhams 2009"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This past Saturday, I presented at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.microhams.com\/digitalconf2009\/slides.html\">Microhams 2009 Digital Communications<\/a> conference.\u00a0 I covered a basic demo of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.d-rats.com\">D-RATS<\/a> functionality and showed the new 0.3.x UI I&#8217;m working on.\u00a0 Response was quite good and the questions I received were refreshingly technical and well thought out.\u00a0 Some new ideas came out of the discussions I had during and after the presentation, which I&#8217;m looking forward to working on.\u00a0 Overall I think it was the most interesting conference I&#8217;ve been to in a while, with just about every presentation keeping me interested the entire time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In case you don&#8217;t know, the Microhams group is closely related to Microsoft, and (as I understand it) was founded and is largely populated by Microsoft employees.\u00a0 As such, the conference was held on the Microsoft corporate campus in Redmond, WA.\u00a0 I thoroughly enjoyed taking my Linux machine up to the podium (which sported a large brass-colored Microsoft logo) and plugging it into the projector.\u00a0 I got a couple of decent jabs at Microsoft worked into the material, and the audience was receptive to the fun.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As I was walking out to the parking area and waiting for Taylor to pick me up, I snapped the following shot of the posters that adorn the small-town-feel of the bit of the campus I was on:<\/p>\n<div><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"border-style: initial; border-color: initial; border-width: 0px;\" src=\"http:\/\/static.danplanet.com\/gallery\/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&amp;g2_itemId=21895&amp;g2_serialNumber=2\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0I was amused <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.danplanet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/themes\/wordpress-grey-opaque-master\/images\/smilies\/icon_smile.gif\" alt=\"Smilie: :)\" title=\"Smilie: :)\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This past Saturday, I presented at the Microhams 2009 Digital Communications conference.\u00a0 I covered a basic demo of D-RATS functionality and showed the new 0.3.x UI I&#8217;m working on.\u00a0 Response was quite good and the questions I received were refreshingly &hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.danplanet.com\/blog\/2009\/03\/23\/microhams-2009\/\">Continue reading <span class=\"meta-nav\">&rarr;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[8],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-13","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-miscellaneous"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.6 -
